Marshall, NC Real Estate

A traditional mountain town with an artistic flare.

Marshall is a charming town just twenty miles north of Asheville in the gorgeous knolls of Madison County. Situated along the bank of the French Broad River and the colonial Buncombe County Turnpike, Marshall home owners take great pride in its rich commercial and colonial history and strong mountain culture.

A bit further from the city center, Leicester certainly isn’t isolated by any means.

"The town has also evolved into a rich artistic community over the past couple of decades. The resulting vibe is one that supports a southern pace and charm with a creative pop.

The best example of this juxtaposition is Marshall’s downtown, with the historic Neo-Classical Revival county courthouse and old-time country stores interspersed with dozens of art galleries. The old high school on Blannahassett Island in the French Broad River has been transformed into an artists’ hub with classes, exhibitions, shows, and dozens of studios.

Marshall is also home to the Prama Institute, a nonprofit holistic retreat center established in 2005. The center has mildly influenced the community through exposure to more alternative forms of healing and spirituality.

However, its presence does not diminish the strong influence of more traditional religious roots here with numerous beautiful churches dotted along the main streets of downtown.

The great thing about a small town like Marshall is that it can serve as a social hub for a tight-knit community with constant social activities, festivals, and opportunities for outdoor adventure, or a mountain refuge for those who seek solitude in the Appalachian Mountains.

The varied topography of the area creates diverse real estate options with ranch-style homes on large lots and luxury log cabins tucked into the foliage.
